3 top tips: How to photograph cocktails in a restaurant or hotel
In addition to hotel and food photography, drinks photography is one of our main areas of expertise. In this blog post, we show what we have learned in this area over the last few years.
Enjoy reading and cheers!
1 - Set the scene for your drinks
And we mean that literally. The best drink photos tell a unique story. And that means the story needs to be prepared. Do you want to convey a summery flair or immerse viewers in a crazy pub world?
Together with our customers, we at Piquant Production look for the right imagery and are happy to show various inspirations that suit the hotel and its positioning. Also look for examples of drink photos that you like and can serve as inspiration.
The drinks, props etc. can be determined based on the mood of the respective drink photography.
2 - Prepare the drink photoshoot
Like a hotel photo shoot preparation is crucial to the success of the drinks photography. Think about which props you need.
Should models be in the pictures? Which glasses do we use? Are additional props necessary and available or do they have to be organized in advance? Do we show food in the picture and if so, how do we ensure that it is really "photogenic" enough?
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the utensils and the set is also crucial for drinks and cocktail photography. Check all glasses, surfaces etc. in advance so that you can concentrate on the essentials = taking the photos on the day of the drinks photo shoot.
We set the scene for your drinks and cocktails
We work successfully with hotels, restaurants, catering companies, food producers, ... and present dishes and drinks in the right light with creative and stylish concepts and compositions.
3 - Bring movement into your cocktail photography
For a drinks photoshoot, we recommend a good mix of different motifs. This allows you to stage your drinks without movement or models. But you should also include motifs where people can be seen in the pictures or where a movement is photographed in the picture. This could be the shaking of the cocktail, the pouring of ingredients or the frothing of milk, for example.
The same applies here: do you also have the option of recording moving images and short video sequences? These are particularly interesting content for social media and lead to higher interaction rates.
